Textile is the first sector regulated under ESPR, with delegated act expected in late 2026 and applicability from 2027. DPPskop offers a textile-specific DPP solution covering fibre origin, hazardous substances, durability, and end-of-life recycling.
The EU textile sector generates 5.8 million tonnes of waste annually (~12 kg per EU citizen), with only 1% recycled into new clothing. Fast fashion's environmental cost — water use, microplastic pollution, exploitative supply chains — has made textile the priority for ESPR's first delegated act.
By 2030, the EU expects all textile products sold in the EU to be durable, recyclable, contain mandatory recycled fibre content, and be free from hazardous chemicals — all verified through Digital Product Passports.
A typical fashion brand with 5,000-10,000 SKUs follows this implementation timeline:
The textile delegated act is expected late 2026, with mandatory applicability 18-24 months later (mid-2028). However, leading brands are already piloting DPPs in 2026 to avoid last-minute compliance crunches.
ESPR includes proportionality for SMEs (companies under 250 employees and €50M turnover may have simplified requirements). Still, all textile brands selling in the EU must comply with the core data fields.
Second-hand items resold without modification do not require new DPPs. Recycled or remanufactured clothing requires a new DPP that references the original.
Through certifications (GRS, RCS) and supplier declarations. DPPskop integrates with Textile Exchange's database for automatic verification.
Three options: (1) printed on care label (most common), (2) printed on hangtag (visible at point of sale), or (3) woven label. DPPskop generates print-ready files for all three.
Not currently mandatory under ESPR, but increasingly expected by major retailers (Inditex, H&M). DPPskop supports ZDHC MRSL fields for brands wanting to go beyond minimum compliance.
